Ron Wilkerson is a writer, musician, producer, director, marketer and inventor. He has written and produced multiple episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager, Stargate SG-1 and VH1’s Strange Frequency.
He was nominated for an Emmy as a part of the writing team on the seventh season of Star Trek: The Next Generation. He made a cameo appearance in the Stargate SG-1 fifth season episode "Wormhole X-Treme!" in which he played a studio executive.
He published a novel: Houdini & Lovecraft, The Ghost Writer. It is available on Amazon.com in paperback and kindle eBook. He is currently in development on Dreamland, a series project originally developed for ABC Signature Studios.
As a musician, he plays keyboards, key bass, and sings. He played in R&B bands at clubs throughout the Los Angeles area including a regular gig at the legendary Lighthouse Cafe in Hermosa Beach. Those bands include: The Dukes of Soul, The Hitmen and Bobby D & the Mixx. His current band is The Sensationals.
Originally from upstate New York, he first worked as head of marketing in music companies MXR, Roland and Alesis, and ran a successful Beverly Hills advertising agency before turning to screenwriting. At that agency he wrote, produced and directed dozens of commercials and corporate industrials for his various clients. He continues to provide marketing consultation for various clients in the tech industries.
He frequently teaches classes in screenwriting at UCLA Extension where he was awarded “Screenwriting Instructor of the Year in 1999.” He is currently teaching screenwriting classes online through the UCLA Extension Writers' Program.
In addition to his writing and music, he is co-inventor of the BreakMaster Digital Green Reader (BreakMaster.com), a golf device used by hundreds of tour pros on the PGA, LPGA and Champions Tour as well as thousands of regular golfers. He developed Custom Greens Books as a means of charting golf greens - a method that has improved the game of golf. He has also co-invented a medical device, the Exelys MicroHolter, which was approved for sale by the FDA.
He lives in Los Angeles with his wife Beverly, and daughter Meredith, a DJ who performs as Mer Bear, djmerber.com.
